A mill wedding downtown, a farm in Summerfield, a ballroom at the resort: I've built timelines for all of them, and I know what the light does in this part of the Piedmont at six in the evening in October.

02 — Venues

Greensboro venues I'd point you toward.

Greensboro has one of the strongest venue lists in the Triad: restored mills downtown, farms north of the city, and a resort with a ballroom that seats everyone. A few I'd send a couple to look at:

The Colonnade at Revolution Mill

A restored mill with natural light, exposed brick and a landscaped courtyard for cocktail hour or portraits. Seats around 200. The brick is the warm, old kind that flatters skin at any hour, and the courtyard means golden-hour portraits are thirty steps from the dance floor.

Cadillac Service Garage

The 1921 Carolina Cadillac dealership downtown, on the National Register and carefully renovated into a venue that seats up to 225. Big industrial windows, original bones, a look that feels editorial without any set dressing. It's the Greensboro venue I get asked about most.

Summerfield Farms Summerfield

A working farm of more than 600 acres about twenty minutes north of downtown, with two barn venues in rolling countryside. This is where I'd send a couple who want sunset in the photographs: open fields, long light, and a horizon with nothing on it but trees.

Grandover Resort

Three ballrooms ranging from about 150 to 500 guests, manicured grounds, and rooms on site for the entire guest list. For a big wedding that needs everyone in one place, it's the obvious answer in the Triad, and the grounds give you real outdoor portrait options between the ceremony and the reception.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples reach out nine to eighteen months out, and popular Saturdays from April through June and September through November fill first. I only take a limited number of weddings each year so every couple gets my full attention, so if you have a date and a venue, ask sooner rather than later.

Does a longer drive change how the day is covered?

No. I build the drive into the schedule the same way I'd build in a first look, so I'm on site before getting-ready coverage starts, not rolling in during it. For a full-day collection in Greensboro, that often means arriving the night before, and that's planned on my end, not yours.
